Scariest True Urban Legend Story

Scary but true urban legends can be found in most major newspapers in every country. The fact that such scary things happen to people so often is probably a very good reason why most people believe urban legends, even when they aren’t true.
However, there’s really no need for anyone to make up fake stories when truth is often so much stranger than fiction.

1. The Dead Body Under Your  Bed

Although it sounds unbelievable, this really happened in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, NJ, Florida, Kansas City, MO, and California. It seems that in or under the bed in a hotel room became very popular place to hide the recently deceased. And it’s not surprising at all if you think about it. Under the bed and the closet are the two most popular places to hide anything, so why would a corpose be such a big deal. Really, the odds are pretty good that at least once a man has killed a prostitute, tried to put her body under the bed, only to find there was already a body there.

2. The Funhouse Mummy

Well, maybe you can’t see too many frightening things in today’s funhouses, but back in the old days many unusual people and items were often on display at the carnival and the mummy was certainly one of the most popular items. People were excited to see it close up and even touch it for the price of admission to the funhouse.
Time rolled on and all the interesting items, including once-popular mummies, ended up in warehouses. One day in 1976, while a camera crew was shooting a TV show on the premises of an old amusement park, they came upon a hanging man prop. Suddenly, while they were moving it, the arm fell off and the bones inside were exposed. They realized it wasn’t the hanging man prop, but a real, mummified dead body. The mummy had been in storage for decades, but no one knew where it had originally come from. It was finally given a proper burial as a John Doe.

3. Halloween Decoration

A woman’s dead body hanging from a tree on the side of the road in Frederica, Delaware swung for hours because passers-by assumed it was a Halloween decoration. Halloween must have been taken too seriously in Delaware, huh? However, one day later, it turns out it was a 42-year-old woman who had committed suicide. So, the conclusion is that the legend is true but only because the woman chose the right place and time to die.

4.  Halloween Trick Failed

A teenager who pretended to hang from a gallows as part of a pre-Halloween hayride was hanged for real while performing the stunt in front of the audience. In fact, imitating a grisly death by hanging is an annual feature of many Halloween shows, and there are many examples of such stunts have gone wrong and resulted in actual deaths.

5. Buried Alive

In the early 17th century, a woman died and was buried in Ardtannies, Scotland. When grave robbers attempted to steal the jewelry interred with her, the deceased surprised the heck out of them by groaning. The robbers fled for their lives, and the woman revived and walked home.
Well, it seems that the grave robbery can sometimes be very helpful. However, this story could definitely be true. Throughout history, there have been numerous cases of people being buried alive by accident. In 1905, the English reformer William Tebb collected accounts of premature burial. He found 219 cases of near live burial, 149 actual live burials, 10 cases of live dissection and 2 cases of awakening while being embalmed.
Extra Urban Legend That Could Be True:

The Spider Bite

The legend of the spider bite features a young woman who was on vacation abroad in an exotic, southern location. While sunbathing on the beach, she is bitten on the cheek by a spider. The bite swells into a large boil and she rushes home to seek medical treatment. She finds a doctor to lance the boil then hundreds of tiny spiders come running out of her cheek. She then goes insane from the shock.
The legend emerged as a modern legend in Europe in the late 1970s, but it echoes earlier manifestations of the bosom-serpent story type, where all types of creatures enter the body and sometimes reproduce there.

Hachiko Most Loyal Dog in History

Have you ever heard about a true story of a worlds most loyal dog in history? A story that has made millions of people around the world crying and symphatying to him. Now let me tell you the story.

Each year on April 8th at a solemn ceremony in Tokyo's Shibuya railroad station, hundreds of dog lovers do homage to the loyalty and devotion of an Akita dog, Hachiko, faithful pet of Dr. Eisaburo Ueno, a professor at Tokyo University.

Hachiko was born in Odate, Japan in November 1923, a white male Akita dog. At the age of two months, he was sent to the home of Professor Ueno of the Agricultural Department of the Tokyo University. The professor's home was in the Shibuya district of Tokyo. The professor commuted to the agricultural department in Komaba and the agricultural experimental station in Nishihara.

Tragedy struck on May 21, 1925, when Dr. Ueno did not return because he had suffered a stroke and died at the university. Hachiko was eighteen months old. The next day and for the next nine years, Hachiko returned to the station and waited for his beloved master before walking home, alone. Nothing and no one could discourage Hachiko from maintaining his nightly vigil. It was not until he followed his master in death, in March l934, that Hachiko failed to appear in his place at the railroad station.

Hachiko was sent to homes of relatives or friends, but he always continued to await his master, who was never to return, at the train station.
The fidelity of Hachiko was known throughout Japan, owing to an article, "Faithful Old Dog Awaits Return of Master Dead for Seven Years" in the October 4, 1933 issue of Aashi Shinbun (Asahi News). Upon his death, newspaper stories led to the suggestion that a statue be erected in the station. Contributions the from the United States and other countries were received.

Today, the statue of the Akita, Hachiko, pays silent tribute to the breed's faithfulness and loyalty. A bronze statue of Hachiko was put up at his waiting spot outside the Shibuya railroad station, which is now probably the most popular rendezvous point in Shibuya. Hachiko was mounted and stuffed and is on now on display at the Tokyo Museum of Art.

World Ending 2012

If you have never heard of the doomsday prophecy along with the date 21st December 2012 then where have you been?! With the interweb rife with chatter and conspiracy theorists hyperventilating over this coming date it has been pretty hard to have not. Like all good conspiracies there is in-depth information and surprisingly eyebrow lifting facts which make the hardest of cynics think twice before the scoffing begins. Whether you are a believer or not, it sure makes for an interesting read. Let us look at the top theories which have people worried; what are the reasons behind the hysteria?

Sumerians
The Sumerians where a super advanced civilization which was settled in Mesopotamia (modern day Iraq) around 5000 – 4000 BC, it is debated that they were actually the earliest civilization discovered. They were advanced in architecture; building the most incredible layered plat formed pyramids and temples and the very first civilization to be accustomed with metrology system which resulted in the creation of arithmetic, geometry and algebra.
But more surprisingly is that they were so advanced in the astrology of our galaxy from the colours of our planets to their moons, that these facts recorded from all that time ago have only been proven in the past century.  In 1851 a collection of Sumerian books and 22,000 scrolls were discovered in Iraq. They tell the story of a flood changing Earth as we know it, wiping mankind from the planet, a story which is reiterated in Genesis. They also point to a planet which we refer to in modern day terms as Planet X.
Planet X is said to be enormous in size – 4 times bigger than Jupiter in fact, dwarfing the Earth. The Sumerian’s had another name for it – Nibiru.

Above is a seal which depicts our solar system with the sun centred and with the planets placed orbiting around it. You can see there is a 12th planet which they named Nibiru and is assumed to be a dwarf planet.
         http://poleshift.ning.com/
Nibiru translates to – ‘planet of the crossing’ and legend or fact has it, Nibiru travels around a long elliptical orbit only coming towards earth every 3600 years coinciding with the end of the Mayan calendar, which ends? You guessed it December 21st 2012 and that is where the date comes from. Some think that the Sumerians and Mayans were not predicting the end of the earth but a consciousness in human enlightenment and a new beginning for the human race.

Planetary Alignment
On the same date the Mayan calendar ends (21st December 2012) the sun goes straight through galactic equator, an alignment which only ever happens once every 26,000 years. It is stated that this alignment of the sun and the planets which enters the dark rift of the Milky Way will be the first time it will be witnessed and recorded in history to date, therefore we have no knowledge of what destruction or affect if any it will have on Earth.

Some think this coinciding with the calendar is worrying. Did they really know something we do not? Gossip is widespread with concerns of polar shifts and all kinds of end of day’s biblical destruction. We all know that the planets and the sun does affect conditions here on earth, but some say this will have no precedence on us at all, others state that we will see an increase in solar activity and large scale disruption. It seems even the scientists cannot agree on this forth coming anomaly.

Solar Storm NASA Warning
In 2010 and again earlier this year NASA issued a warning on an up-coming solar maximum for late in 2012, scientists say that the sun will be entering and passing through an interstellar energy cloud which excites/energizes the sun. What affects could this have on planet Earth? Well, it is stated that it could in fact dismantle and frazzle our satellites knocking out our power grids, ending our communications for month’s maybe years. Something we are not prepared for, worse case – prompting worldwide blackouts, ending the usage of technology we rely on daily, from cell phones to navigational systems.  NASA also states that it will cause more natural disasters such as much larger earthquakes, volcanic eruptions along with extreme weather.
Main tunnel of seed vault.  National Geographic
Worryingly enough our governments seem to be preparing for some kind of major event  behind the scenes ,  vast seed banks have been structured underground in Russia and Norway . FEMA camps have been stockpiling disposable coffins in their 100,000’s and construction of underground bases for the “elite” seem to be being built underneath our very own noses. Under Denver Airport being one of them.

So there you have it! I have touched on just some of the rumours and theories circling the web. Should we be worried or do we thrive on these conspiracies, excited by the unknown, doomsday scenarios and biblical prophecies! Personally, I will not be worrying just yet and hey, if it does happen nothing much we can do about it, it’s not like we would be informed by our governments anyway.
Maybe I will stock up on water and some tinned food just in case…
